The island of Ilovik:
A pleasant 40-minute boat ride will take you to the island of Ilovik. The islands of Ilovik and Sveti Petar (St. Peter) are located south of the island of Lošinj, separated by Ilovačka vrata (the Strait of Ilovik). The island of Ilovik, with its village also called Ilovik, covers an area of 5.8 km2, with a circumference of 15.4 km. The largest cove with a sandy beach ‘Paržine’ is located on the southeast side of the island. There is a 2.5 km long and 300 m wide channel stretching between the two islands. Its waters are naturally protected from winds and can provide a safe haven for yachts and smaller boats. The whole island is covered with lush Mediterranean vegetation, and here you will come across a variety of flowers, colourful oleanders, palm trees and two century-old eucalyptus trees which is the reason why Ilovik is often called ‘The Island of Flowers’.
